At the recent IRFC AGM, a new Chair has been appointed for Ilkley Rugby Club. Nigel Jenkinson, ex-player and committee member, takes over the Chair role from President John Barwick.
Barwick, speaking at the AGM, said: “I’m delighted to announce that, as from this evening, Nigel Jenkinson will be taking over from me as Chair of Ilkley Rugby Club.
As you’ll be aware, I’ve had the dual role of president and chair for the past four or five years, which has been a personal challenge. Most of you will know that Nigel is a past player, past committee member, and former president of Ilkley Golf Club. He has been an extremely successful businessman, and I’m convinced he’ll be a great asset to the club.
On a personal level, I’m thrilled to welcome Nigel on board as chair. So, Nigel, welcome on board and onwards and upwards!”
Among other announcements, Captain of the 1st XV, Joe Lowes has been given Honorary Life Membership for IRFC for his dedication, commitment and service to the club.
Barwick said: “Joe Lowes, a magnificent Captain of the club for the past six years, is well-liked and respected by his playing colleagues and everyone associated at the club. From the moment he joined us, he’s been a fantastic ambassador, not just within the club but also throughout the town of Ilkley.
So, Joe, many congratulations on becoming an Honorary Life Member.”
